About the Journal

Aims and scope

The Journal of Transdisciplinarity in Rural Wellbeing (JTRW) aims at overcoming current fragmentation in research about the relation between rurality and wellbeing, promoting consistency in pursuing publications that elevate the conversation about rural wellbeing across the world. The journal accepts submissions from a variety of approaches, including but not limited to rural sociology, rural education, environmental wellness, agronomy, rural design, animal studies, rural health, rural geography, science and technology studies, rural psychology, happiness studies, environmental horticulture, rural security studies, environmental humanities, and other research endeavors that address the topic of wellbeing in (human and non-human) rural environments.

The journal is part of a portal that brings together different types of audio, visual and textual content to encourage scholars, policy makers, students, and practitioners from several traditions to engage in the study of and deliberation about rural wellbeing.

Open access policy

JTRW is an Open Access journal. There is no submission or article processing fee for this journal and all content is free to access and download without registration. The journal uses the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0).

International standards for authors

JTRW endorses the editorial guidelines by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) on the statement of publication ethics and publication misconduct.

Evaluation procedure:

All the manuscripts must be sent through the OJS platform of the Journal of Transdisciplinarity in Rural Wellbeing. Once the manuscript is submitted, the editor decides within a month whether it meets the criteria for publication according to the author guidelines of the journal. If the manuscript meets the criteria, it will be given to two referees for anonymous peer review. The editor, who may request the assistance of other members of the Editorial Board, will assess the reviews and make a final decision whether the manuscript is accepted or rejected.

Normally, the peer review process can take up to four months. Once the article has been accepted (copyedited, corrected, and typeset), it will be available in advance of issue publication.
